V0.2 - Created 4th job skill analysis. V0.3 - Added Training Spots and money matters. V0.4 - Changed names of the skills. =============================================================================================================== ________________ ==Introduction== ________________ Maple Story is a MMORPG, and like most MMORPG's, there are several classes. Some classes are obvious such as the warrior and the mage. One class that is unique to MapleStory is the PIRATE. Wizet even goes as far as to create a GUNSLINGER out of pirates. If you are looking at this guide then I guess you want to become a gunslinger. Why be a gunsligner when there are so much other classes? Lets take a look. PROS OF A GUNSLINGER ==================== -Fast Attack -Fun to play -Has skills that can be used CLOSE-RANGED -Can summon without using stones -Can ride on a mini pirate ship -Gunslingers are extremely uncommon -Bullets are not as expensive as shurikens. -Has a great variety of bullets, including FIRE and ICE. CONS OF A GUNSLINGER ==================== -Can't dish out damage that makes you go WHAT THE HELL?! -Bullets are still EXPENSIVE -Rapid Fire makes bullets run out like water. -Doesn't have any strengths -Damage WAY TOO STABLE COMPARING WITH ASSASSINS ======================== Assassins are the other type of ranged jump-attackers. How ever, their shurikens cost amounts of money that will make your cower in fear. On the other hand, bullets are cheap because of the monsters that drop them. Packs of lvl 70 bullets can cost as low as 99k! Another thing is that assassins only get 1 attacking skill until 4th job, while gunslingers have a variety of skills that gives them an edge on both crowd and single monsters. Don't think assassins are weak, though, because they have critical hit and their main attacks are based on luck. Plus, they have AWESOME money saver skills like alchemist, and drain. Overall, gunslingers are strange people because you can see shadows of other classes in a gunslingers. For example, you can see the assassin's jump attack and shurikens in gunslingers but you can also see the bowman's bomb arrow in gunslingers because of Blank Shot. Gunslingers are also really unique, like the ability to perform Hit-and-Run strikes* and also sail on a mini battleship shooting cannons. In conclusion, if you think gunslingers suck and prefer to become an assassin, get out of this guide IMMEDIATLY. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ CREATING A NEW CHARACTER ======================== The dice roll is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Then you can go to Heneseys training groung to do training(for level 8's and 9's). If you are level 10 then go directly to Nautilus Port via the ticket seller in Lith Harbour or the Taxi at your current location. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ======================== YOUR ROAD TO PIRATE-HOOD ======================== Once you are level 10 and are in Victoria Island, go to Nautilus Port. Then enter the Nautilus (the ship). Go up stairs and head left. Stop at the last door (portal) and enter. This is the piloting room. Talk to Kairen (the captain) and she'll offer to teach you all she knows about a pirate. -REQUIREMENTS - 1. Level 10 2. Dexterity 20 or abouve. Since you are becoming a gunslinger, you dexterity sould be aroung 50 so don't worry. Then read on, and when you hear a holy sound and Kairen says that you are officially a pirate, CONGRATULAIONS! YOU ARE NOW AN OFFICIAL PIRATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ====================== Pirate SP Distribution ====================== LEVEL: 10- Double Shot -1 11- Double Shot - 4 12- Double Shot - 7 13- Double Shot - 10 14- Double Shot - 13 15- Double Shot - 16 16- Double Shot - 19 17- Double Shot - 20(MAX) + Dash - 2 18- Dash - 5 19- Dash - 8 20- Dash - 10 (MAXED) + Bullet Time - 1 21- Bullet Time - 4 22- Bullet Time - 7 23- Bullet Time - 10 24- Bullet Time - 13 25- Bullet Time - 16 26- Bullet Time - 19 27- Bullet Time -20 (MAX) + Sommersalt Kick - 2 28- Sommersalt Kick - 5 29- Sommersalt Kicl - 8 30- Sommersalt Kick - 11 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill Explaination : Bullet Time - A Skill that increases your accuracy and avoidability. You don't have to worry about the 20 accuracy (at MAXED), but the 20 avoidability will help you throughout your whole gunlinger life. If you're planning to become a gunslinger, then you MUST MAX this skill. Double Shot - Main Attack until 4th job. Weak but fast. 80% * 2 at max. MUST MAX. In 3rd job there's a upgrade skill (Burst Fire). Then it will become 190% * 3. Flash Fist - No Explainations. Brawler skill. DON'T TOUCH THIS SKILL. Dash - This is like a short-lasting version of the thieves' skill - HASTE. Useful for running away and for pulling off Hit - and - Run strikes* . Sommersalt Kick - Fun mob skill. Useful when you are surrounded. You can add your 11 left over points on this skill. Max if you think Dash is useless. * Hit-and-Run strikes are only avalible for gunslingers because of their speed. DIY: First, attack an enemy. It will be following you. Use Dash to dash away from him and jump, quickly face the direction of the enemy and use double shot or any other fast attack. Normal attacks won't work because they're too slow. Then quickly turn aroung and use dash again to run away or to perform anothe Hit-ans-Run attack. VERY USEFUL LIFESAVING TECNIQUE. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============== TRAINING SPOTS ============== Level 10 -22/23 : Heneseys PQ. Level 23 - 30 : Kernling City PQ. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ====================== SECOND JOB ====================== When you are level 30, go immediatly back to Kairen. She'll rave on about how much stronger you look than before and offers to make you even more stronger. Choose the advancement - Gunslinger. Then, talk to her again and she'll sent you to a cabin full of Octopi which can only only be killed using Double Shot. Kill 15 and bring back 15 crystals of power(?). Once you have completed the quest, talk to Kairen again and keep on clicking on 'next'. Once you hear the same familiar sound, CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE NOW A GUNSLINGER!!!! ======================= 2nd Job SP Distribution ======================= The order is not important, but the skills that you max are most important. Skills: Gun Mastery - MUST MAX. Same effect as the sin's Javelin Mastery. Gun Booster - MUST MAX. 3rd job skills will be requireing this skill maxed. Grenade - You don't have have to max this skill. It's fun to use but hard to control. The default distance is terrible, and if you charge it to max, then you'll probably miss. Add 16 on this one. If you want to max this skill, then take 4 off invisible shot. Invisible Shot - Mini - mid-ranged mob skill. Easy to use and is EXTREMELY useful. You must max this skill for carnival PQ's. If you prefer grenade, then max that instead. Blank Shot - Fun Skill. Not to mention it's useful. 100% Stun at MAX. You don't have to max this one. Just add 15 on it(84% stun) If you want this maxed, then take 5 off wings. Wings - USEFUL and FUN skill. The only reason to add this is that you can shoot while floating. Useful when a BOSS is on a higher platform than you. MAX this skill. (10) Take 5 off and put them on Blank Shot if you think this is useless. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recommended order: First, you should max invisible shot because it will be very useful in carnival PQ's and will help you train. While you're at it, put one point on Blank Shot because it can save your life during carnival PQ's. Once you max invisible shot, go straight to mastery. Get that to 5. After that, add booster to 12. After that, go straight for Recoil Shot and Blank Shot. MAX mastery after that, then MAX booster. Any left over points can be put on grenade or wings. Following the distribution guide at the top, you can customize your character a bit. For example, I chose not to max Wings but Blank Shot. It's your choice. You can even max mastery first, considering the bullet amount and accuracy increase. This recommended order is just for fast leveling. YOU SHOULDN'T FOLLOW IT COMPLETELY. Just add first what you think will be useful for you to level faster. After all, your journey's just beginning. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============== TRAINING SPOTS ============== THE EARLY LEVELS (30 - 35) - At this point I would recommend you to go try out at carnival PQ. Just offer to pay the high levelers money if your team wins. You should pay 60k for an A rank. If you are unfunded, then your only choice is the boars or fire boars. When you're past level 32, then Lumbridum tower would be a better choice. MIDDLE LEVELS (36 - 50) - CARNIVAL PARTY QUEST!!!!!!! IF NEWBIES OFFER YOU MONEY, TAKE IT! MONEY MAKING PERIOD!!!!!!! ALMOST THERE. . . . . (51 - 60) - Herb Town PQ, or Lumbridum Maze. It's your choice. FEW MORE STEPS. . . .(60 - 70) - Again, HERB TOWN, or LUMBRIDUM MAZE. Explore at this point. El-Nath would be a good place. . . . . . . . (Just keep in mind not to make mobs of yeti angry. . .) This period is really when Blank Shot gets put into use. THE MOBS AT THIS POINT ARE DANGEROUS! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ======= 3rd Job ======= Go to El Nath when you are level 70. The quests you have to do there in order to become an outcaster won't be explained, since it's basicly the same as the other classes. The part you'll have to worry about is the part when you're fighting the dark Kairen. She's strong. When you become an outcaster, then pat yourself on the back and shout - "I'M BETTER THAN CAPTAIN CHAOS!!!!!!!!!" . . . . . . . OK, just don't get too excited. Anyways - CONGRATULATIONS ON BECOMING AN OUTLAW! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =================== 3rd Job Skill Build =================== Lvl 70- Burst Fire -1 Lvl 71- Burst Fire -4 Lvl 72- Burst Fire -7 Lvl 73- Burst Fire -10 Lvl 74- Burst Fire -13 Lvl 75- Burst Fire -16 Lvl 76- Burst Fire -19 Lvl 77- Burst Fire 20(MAX) +2 Homing Beacon Lvl 78- Homing Beacon -5 Lvl 79- Homing Beacon -8 Lvl 80- Homing Beacon -11 Lvl 81- Homing Beacon -14 Lvl 82- Homing Beacon -17 Lvl 83- Homing Beacon -20 Lvl 84- Homing Beacon -23 Lvl 85- Homing Beacon -26 Lvl 86- Homing Beacon -29 Lvl 87- Homing Beacon -30(MAX) + 2 Ice Splitter* Lvl 88- Ice Splitter -5 Lvl 89- Ice Splitter -8 Lvl 90- Ice Splitter -11 Lvl 91- Ice Splitter -14 Lvl 92- Octopus -3 Lvl 93- Octopus -6 Lvl 94- Octopus -9 Lvl 95- Octopus -12 Lvl 96- Octopus -15 Lvl 97- Octopus -18 Lvl 98- Octopus -21 Lvl 99- Octopus -24 Lvl 100- Octopus -27 Lvl 101- Octopus -30(MAX) Lvl 102- Ice Splitter -17 Lvl 103- Ice Splitter -20 Lvl 104- Ice Splitter -23 Lvl 105- Ice Splitter -26 Lvl 106- Ice Splitter -29 Lvl 107- Ice Splitter -30(MAX) + 2 Gaviota Lvl 108- Gaviota -5 Lvl 109- Gaviota -8 Lvl 110- Gaviota -11 Lvl 111- Gaviota -14 Lvl 112- Gaviota -17 Lvl 113- Gaviota -20 Lvl 114- Gaviota -24 Lvl 115- Gaviota -27 Lvl 116- Gaviota -30(MAX) Lvl 117 - 120 - Any Skill 11 ============================= * Ice Split may be alternated to Flamethrower. The reason that I recommend Ice Split is because it will be the 3rd most useful skill during your later levels since you can FREEZE monsters. I recommend you to max what ever skill(s) you didn't max during 2nd job using the extra points. Or, put them on Flamethrower. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SECOND BUILD This is the build for people who want both Ice Splitter and Flame Thrower to be at a high level. ============================= (Another) 3rd Job Skill Build ============================= Lvl 70- Burst Fire -1 Lvl 71- Burst Fire -4 Lvl 72- Burst Fire -7 Lvl 73- Burst Fire -10 Lvl 74- Burst Fire -13 Lvl 75- Burst Fire -16 Lvl 76- Burst Fire -19 Lvl 77- Burst Fire 20(MAX) +2 Homing Beacon Lvl 78- Homing Beacon -5 Lvl 79- Homing Beacon -8 Lvl 80- Homing Beacon -11 Lvl 81- Homing Beacon -14 Lvl 82- Homing Beacon -17 Lvl 83- Homing Beacon -20 Lvl 84- Homing Beacon -23 Lvl 85- Homing Beacon -26 Lvl 86- Homing Beacon -29 Lvl 87- Homing Beacon -30(MAX) + 2 Ice Splitter* Lvl 88- Ice Splitter -5 Lvl 89- Ice Splitter -8 Lvl 90- Ice Splitter -11 Lvl 91- Ice Splitter -14 Lvl 92- Octopus -3 Lvl 93- Octopus -6 Lvl 94- Octopus -9 Lvl 95- Octopus -12 Lvl 96- Octopus -15 Lvl 97- Octopus -18 Lvl 98- Octopus -21 Lvl 99- Octopus -24 Lvl 100- Octopus -27 Lvl 101- Octopus -30(MAX) Lvl 102- Ice Splitter -17 Lvl 103- Ice Splitter -20 Lvl 104- Ice Splitter -23 Lvl 105- Ice Splitter -26 Lvl 106- Ice Splitter -29 Lvl 107- Ice Splitter -30(MAX) + 2 Gaviota Lvl 108- Gaviota -5 Lvl 109- Gaviota -8 Lvl 110- Gaviota -11 Lvl 111- Gaviota -14 Lvl 112- Gaviota -15 + Flamethrower - 2 Lvl 113- Flamethrower - 5 Lvl 114- Flamethrower - 8 Lvl 115- Flamethrower - 11 Lvl 116- Flamethrower - 14 Lvl 117- Flamethrower - 17 Lvl 118- Flamethrower - 20 Lvl 119- Flamethrower - 23 Lvl 120- Flamethrower - 26 Note : Ice Splitter may be substituted for Flamethrower. =Why not to max Gaviota= Gaviota is not a good skill (in my opinion). Gaviota never listens to you and always flies away. The only reason to max it is that if Gaviota actually do bombard the enemy, then the enemy would take incredible amounts of damage. Just make sure it's 15 or over. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Change the order all you want, but make sure that in the end, Gaviota is 15 or over, and Burst Fire, Homing Beacon, Octopus are MAXED. Well, I'm not sure about 3rd job training spots yet, but as soon as I know, I'll update this guide. =====================================-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=------------------------------------------------- -=-=-=-=-=- FOURTH JOB- -=-=-=-=-=- Fourth job! You've finally reached it!!!!! By this time, you should be level 120 and boarding the ship to Leafre. Once you recieved the quest at the 4th job pirate advance , make sure that you go get the items straight away. The 3rd job instructor in El Nath states that is you want the quest items, you must use a secret scroll to exchange. The scroll can be bought at Lumbridum Tower 44th floor. Once you complete the quest, CONGRATULATIONS! (again). AS A CORSAIR, YOU NOW HAVE SUPREME POWER! ___________________________________________________________________________________ I won't be explaining the Build since it has alot to do with the max skill books. ____________________________________________________________________________________ ================ =Skill Analysis= ================ Rapid Fire - Not a very good skill. Definatly NOT a corsair's main attack. Really wastes bullets. Used to fight during the cool down of 'Battleship.' You should max this skill. Wrath of the Octopi - MUST MAX EARLY. This will make your Octopus skill really, really strong. Recommended skill. This skill will increase your octopus' attack and rate. Air Strike - SUPER STRONG MOB CONTROL TECNIQUE! It's 100 times better than Gaviota. Corsairs will love this skill. You have to do a quest to obtain this skill. Just don't die. As I said, angry mobs are very dangerous. Elemental Boost - Supports your choice of elemental attack. You can max it if you want. At max Ice Splitter gets an additional 3 seconds freeze. Sweet skill. Battleship - If you don't max this skill then you are a BAD corsair. at MAXED you get an additional 100 defence and magic defence: Sweet. Mainly used for pulling off attackes such as BATTLESHIP CANNON, and BATTLESHIP TORPEDO. Battleship Cannon - MAIN ATTACK FOR THE REST OF YOUR MAPLE LIFE. MUST MAX. High damage, so high you'll think that Rapid Fire is a useless skill. At maxed you get around 400%*4 DAMAGE!!!!!!!!! Battleship Torpedo - Super strong mob skill. Max this one because in your later levels you will have to use this attack to GRIND. Becarful though, as I said, the mobs at this point are extremely dangerous. Hypnotize - This skill is not that good. It's just used for running away. It's fun to use, but I've done an experiment. I went to Leafre and the monsters only deal only around 1k to each other. Bullseye - This skill is awsome! It really supports Homing Beacon. Also increases your damage on the monster being homed!!!! Must MAX. Summary - All I can say is: "THE 4TH JOB OF GUNSLINGERS ROCK!!!!" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WARNING!!!! MONEY MATTERS! Gunslingers spend ALOT of money. On? Bullets of course. Sure, bullets are not as expensive as shurikens but they sure do cost alot. Pirate armor are also extremly expensive. If you want a money account, get a warrior. WAYS TO GET MONEY --- FAST!!!! Sell FAME (Levels 15-25) - Sell fame for 80 - 100k. Good money for your earlier levels. Sell ARMOR (ANY level) - Do the math. You can sell a maple sheild for around 3000k! Sell NX CASH - Maybe THIS IS ILEGAL, so don't even try. There's alot of bandits out there who'll take the CASH and run without giving you the mesos. DON'T ATTEMPT THIS!!!!! Sell Shurikens - Fast money. You can sell Steelies for 1000 to 2000k!!!!!!! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ END OF GUIDE _+_+_+_+_+_+_ _______ CREDITS- _______- www.hiddenstreet.net mxd.sdo.com (China Maple Story) www.mapleglobal.com Wizet and Nexon for making Maple Story! cLoUd3z and Saigo for creating Hidden-Street!
